Enter Resource Relocations
Explanation
This activity relates to relocating a resource, either geographically or
conceptual, for a period of time so that a resource's schedule can be
optimized effectively and balanced to meet demand. When creating a
Resource Relocation the date range must be specified as the
Relocation Period along with the following optional values:
- Calendar/ Shift Pattern Template: if the resource is required to
work for different working times than their usual patterns during the
Relocation Period, then an alternate Calendar and/ or Shift Pattern
Template can be selected.
- Relocation Template: a Relocation Template can be linked to the
Resource Relocation. A template contains the Schedule Details, Regions,
and Skills that are required during the Relocation Period. If a
Relocation Template is applied to a Resource Relocation then the
Schedule Details, Region, and Skills are not editable. For more
information about Resource Relocation Templates please see Enter New Resource Relocation Template.
- Scheduling Details: a series of Scheduling specific values can be
added to the Resource Relocation record such as the Scheduling
Utilization, Start Location, Max Travel parameter, etc. These values can
be added manually or via a Relocation Template. When shifts are
generated for a Relocation Period, any Scheduling values defined here
will be added as Shift Attributes (of Type=Scheduling).
- Regions: regions that are required for the Relocation Period can be
defined here.
- Skills: skills that are required for the Relocation Period can be
defined here.
- Dataset: if the resource is required to work within a particular
Scheduling Dataset for the Relocation Period then this can be defined.
Time Zone Support
If a resource works in a different time zone during the relocation
period, and the Inherit Time Zone toggle is enabled, the
time zone is derived by the following order of precedence:
- From the Location Start Address specified in the
Details tab.
- From the Service Organization.
- From the Resource, if neither the Location Start
nor the Service Organization fields are defined with specific
parameters.
If the Inherit Time Zone toggle is disabled, the time
zone must be defined manually.
Prerequisites
The resource being relocated must be of a Person or Crew Resource Type.
System Effects
- A Resource Relocation record will be created in either a Preliminary or Active status.
- Where a relocation is created in an Active status, Capacity and
Shift Generation will occur for the resource(s) being relocated. For
shifts generated during a relocation period, the shifts start and end
date/times will be determined by the Calendar/Shift Pattern Template
added on the Relocation.
