Enter New Resource Configuration
Explanation
The New Resource Configuration can be used
to create templates that define the scope of the New Resource
assistant. The templates are intended to efficiently guide the
creation of a resource based upon the requirements for the resource type selected.
For example, templates can be defined that streamline the process of creating
a Person, Crew, or Tool resource. The flow of the New Resource
assistant is dynamic so depending on the Resource Configuration
selected the steps available in the resource assistant will be determined by
the configuration, or if a configuration has not been applied, by the Resource
Type. The following Configuration templates are preconfigured for Service resources:
- Schedulable Field Technician - this configuration can
be used to create a Person resource that has the Scheduling and Mobile steps
as mandatory ensuring that any resources created with this configuration
are designated as Schedulable resources and Mobile users.
- Schedulable Crew Resource - this configuration can
be used to create a crew resource that has the Scheduling step as mandatory
ensuring that any crew created with this configuration will be schedulable
crews.
- Basic Person/Tool/Crew Resource - these configuration
can be used to create a very basic Person, Tool, or Crew resource that captures
the minimum information required for resource creation, such as the Resource
ID or Resource Group.
To edit an existing Configuration, set the status to Preliminary.
Create a New Resource Configuration
When creating a New Resource Configuration, define it's overall usage by
setting the following flags:
- Use In Maintenance - enabling this option will designate
the configuration as specific to Maintenance resources and mean the Company
and Site connections are mandatory to the Connections Step.
- Use In Projects - enabling this option will designate
the configuration as specific to Projects resources, and facilitate the
efficient creation of a resource that can be used in project resource planning
and allocation.
- Use In Service - enabling this option will designate
the configuration as specific to Service resources and
allow for the adding of Service Organization and
Service Delivery Unit to the Connections Step.
- Scheduling - enabling this option will ensure that
resources created with this configuration are Schedulable
resource and the Scheduling Details and Scheduling
Resource Regions Steps are available in the assistant.
- Mobile User - enabling this option will ensure that
resources created with this configuration are set as a Mobile User
and the Mobile Details step in the assistant is available.
When creating or modifying an individual Resource Configuration, the
Steps and Sections that
are applicable to each Configuration can be defined and their visibility is
determined by the Usage flags set on the Configuration
and the Visibility flag set on the Step. For each
step, the following flags can be set to determine the scope of the sections
available:
- Visible - determines if the step is to be visible when
the current Resource Configuration is used.
- Enabled - determines if the step is to be turned on
by default.
- Required - determines if the step is to be a required/
mandatory step.
Some steps, such as the Setup/ Configuration and
Connections steps, cannot be hidden or disabled as
they are required for resource creation.
