Explanation
This activity is used to connect a request scope to an
existing project activity. Once connected, planned and reported costs,
revenues, hours, and progress will be reported to the activity through the
cost elements.
To connect a scope to a project activity, go to the Scope
tab of the Request Details page.
Select the scope line, then the Project Connection command,
and Connect To Activity. Enter the project, sub-project,
and the relevant activity in the Connect to Activity
dialog that opens. The program is optional. If the request scope is
successfully connected to a project activity, it will be indicated by the Project
Connected field on the Request page;
project information will be visible in the Scope
tab.
Prerequisites
- IFS/Project must exist.
- The value for Manual Connection must be set to Allowed
for Work Tasks in the Manual Connections tab
on the Project Setup Parameters page.
- The project must be in the status of Approved or
Started.
- The project activity must be in the status of Planned
or Released.
- The work tasks must not have any cost lines or invoiceable sales
lines.
System Effects
- The request scope will be connected to the specified project
activity as a manually connected object. Click Project
Connection and then click Activity to view the
project activity.
- The project information will be inherited to the scope associated
work tasks.
- The scope and existing work tasks will be updated with the project's
pre-posting.
- The scope will appear as a connection on the Project
Monitoring / Activity Monitoring - Project Connections
page.
- Planned cost, revenue, and hours from scope will be reported to the
activity through the cost/revenue elements.
- Actual cost, revenue, time, and progress will be updated on the
activity when actions on the connected requests are performed.
