Define Quantity Breakdown Structure

Explanation

This activity is used to create a Quantity Breakdown Structure (QBS), which can be connected to your Schedule of Work. A QBS provides a structured approach to estimating the quantities of materials, labor, and other resources required for a project, ensuring detailed and organized planning and budgeting.

Defining the Quantity Breakdown Structure

A Quantity Breakdown Structure (QBS) can be defined using the Quantity Breakdown Structure Estimate Management page or the Quantity Breakdown Structure Production Management page.

Once created, the QBS can be connected to an existing Schedule Of Work via the Connect Schedule Of Work command. An already connected Schedule of Work to a Quantity Breakdown Structure can be accessed via the Connected Schedule of Work command.

It is also possible to create a QBS while developing the Schedule of Work using commands in the Schedule of Work Estimating page and the Schedule Of Work Production Management page.

Multiple Connections and Updating Restrictions

Multiple Schedule of Works can be connected to the same Quantity Breakdown Structure (QBS). When the same QBS is connected to multiple Schedules of Work, updating will not be permitted.

The QBS can only be updated before it is connected to a Schedule of Work or when it is connected to only one Schedule of Work.
