This activity describes different features you can use to analyze a budget/forecast. Depending on what kind of analysis you want to do, there are different features:
By using the Drill Down feature, it is possible to gain insights into objects’ underlying values and their connections, such as Project Transactions, Invoicing Plans, Sales Contracts, Purchase Orders, Purchase Requisitions, Sub Contracts, Vouchers, and GL Vouchers. This is achievable if the forecast version has been connected to a project snapshot using the Drill Down option.
Periodical Cost Graph is a graphical overview showing accumulated values outlined over the activities' separate periods. This makes it possible to perform a quick comparison between different values.
The following costs lines will be depicted:
Also the following revenue lines will be depicted:
In addition to the cost and revenue line graphs, the forecast cut-off period will also be displayed. If the Live View snapshot functionality is used, the incurred costs/revenue cannot be spread into specific periods. The cumulative incurred cost/revenue in this case will be plotted on the cut-off period line.
The WBS and CBS Summary are an overview for the whole project which shows both a summary for the level in the structure you have chosen and a summary for lower levels. There is also a detailed summary for the WBS and CBS elements on the lower levels. You can use both the WBS navigator and the CBS navigator to find the required level in the structures where you want to work. In CBS, It is also possible to use the Filter Currency list to filter the required currency. If multicurrency budgeting and forecasting is in use you can select the required Display Currency (Base, Base B&F Rate or Project).
The Project Forecast Analysis page allows you to analyze your budge and forecasts further.
Budget vs. Forecast
The Budget vs. Forecast is a graphical overview of the budget compared to the selected forecast. It displays graphs for margin, profit and costs. It is also possible to break down the costs to lower levels. The amounts from contract change orders (CCOs) that are connected to the budget or forecast are specified in a certain color so the user can view their impact of the budget or forecast. The cost of the selected forecast/budget can also be analyzed per total, per level 1 in the cost/revenue breakdown structure (CBS) or per cost element. Different colors are used to specify budget, amounts from connected contract change orders and connected resource forecasts, ETC Adjusted of the forecast, committed and used costs.
Forecast Key Performance Indicators
Analyze various project key performance indicators, including Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS), Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP), Budget at Completion (BAC), Estimate at Completion (EAC), and other values. This analysis helps in making informed decisions and improving project performance.
