About Sub Projects

To effectively manage complex projects, you can break them down into smaller, more manageable sub projects. This process is facilitated by Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), which allows you to organize your project plan into a hierarchy of sub projects and activities. The Tree Navigator in IFS Cloud graphically represents this structure, providing a visual overview of the entire project and its subdivisions.

Building the Project Plan

Sub projects can be created in the Sub Projects and Project Scope and Schedule/Sub Project page.

A sub project can be created and connected directly under the project, or connected to an already existing sub project. A sub project can only have one parent, but can be a parent to any number of sub projects. This capability allows for the creation of deep and complex structures when needed. The data relevant to sub projects are: Sub Project ID, Description, Sub Project Manager and the Department.

Each sub project can then be further divided into specific activities that represents the work that needs to be performed to complete the sub projects.

Financial Tracking

Project costs and revenues associated with the activities connected to the sub project can be summarized at any level within the WBS. This allows you to track essential information from related activities, at the relevant sub project level.

 Sub projects can have pre-posting.

Deleting Sub Projects

There are two ways of deleting a sub project:

If you use the Delete button, you must first remove the subproject's activities. When the Delete Sub Project Structure action command is used, the connected activities will be deleted automatically along with the subproject's structure.
