This activity is used to create or add to teams using existing organization
units of a company or matrix structures. The Create Team from Organization
Unit assistant can be used to help transition from the ‘organization
and position setup’ to the ‘team and supervisor setup’ to assign supervisors
and grant access. This assistant is also available using the command button
that will be enabled in the Graphical Organization Structure
and Organization Units pages when an organization
unit or a structure is selected.
The Add Organization Unit
dialog is used to add organization units to the Create or Add to
Teams from Organization Unit list. The Structures
option can be used to add all organization units in a structure all at once.
The Organization Units option can be used to select
specific organization units to be added. The Use Organization Names
as New Team Names option can be used to add organization unit
IDs and names as default new team IDs and names.
The Create
New Team option is enabled by default, however it is also possible
to select an existing team using the Team field. This
option can be used if persons from selected Organization Units
should be added to already existing teams.
Add Persons to
Team will add the persons associated with the employees assigned
to the organization unit. If this option is not used, a team can still be created
with default supervisors added, but no persons will be added.
Supervisors
for the teams will be automatically derived and shown as the Default
Supervisor based on the organization and position assignments
of the employees associated with the persons in the added organization units.
The Include Subordinate Organization Units
option is used to add persons from the subordinate organization units of the
added organization unit to the new or existing team. Using this option will
make it possible to view the subordinate organization units of a selected organization
unit in the Subordinate Organization Units list. Default
supervisors can be set separately for persons from subordinate organization
units and the Exclude option can be used if only selective
subordinate organization units need to be included.
As a result of this activity, new teams will be created based on organization units and/or persons will be added to existing teams.
