Material in Service Location (Direct Material Sourcing)
During the work execution process, service technicians can receive and utilize
parts delivered directly to the service location. These parts may be sourced
from an external supplier via a Purchase Order or from the Service Organization
via a Shipment Order.
The Material Order Receipts page, accessible under
Task actions in the IFS MWO Service app, displays
all parts delivered directly to the service location. Service technicians can
receive these parts and use them for assigned jobs.
Supported Part Types in Purchase Orders and Shipment Orders:
- Direct Sourcing via Purchase Orders: Inventory parts,
Non-Inventory parts, and No Parts are supported.
- Direct Sourcing via Shipment Orders: Only Inventory
parts are supported.
Prerequisites for Direct Material Sourcing Workflow
1. External Supplier Deliveries
- Material Line for the Inventory Part, Non Inventory Part or No Part
should have the Delivery Method set to To Service
Location and the Supply Code set to Purchase
Order.
- The corresponding Purchase Order line should be processed and ready
to be received.
2. Service Organization Deliveries
- Material Line for Inventory Parts should have the Delivery Method
set to To Service Location and the Supply Code
set to Shipment Order.
- The corresponding Shipment line should be processed
and ready for receipt. Refer to the
About Shipment Order
section for Shipment Order processing details.
Automatic Registration of Remote Warehouse
- A temporary warehouse is automatically created to receive
parts at the service location. Basic data for creating this remote warehouse
should be defined as outlined in the Automatic Registration section of
About Remote
Warehouse.
- The generated temporary warehouse will be removed when the Request Task
is either Finished or Cancelled, provided
this warehouse is not in use by other Request tasks and has no Remaining,
Reserved, In Transit Quantity or Frozen stocks.
Actions Available from the Material Order Receipts Page
1. Receive Parts from Purchase Order or Shipment Order:
- Materials sent to the service location can be received on the mobile
client via the Work Details/Material Order Receipts page
using the action Receive.
This action receives the
Inventory Parts at the Service Location and reserves them for the Request
Task. These parts are listed under Reserved Materials.
- Non-Inventory Parts and No Parts are received and consumed for the Request
Work Task.
2. Issue Received Parts:
- All directly received and reserved Inventory Parts
can be issued using the Issue All from Service Location
action in the Work Details/Material page.
- To issue individual parts, use the Issue from Service Location
action for single records under Reserved Materials.
3. Receive and Issue:
- Parts can be simultaneously received and issued to the Request Task using the Receive and Issue action on the
Work Details/Material Order Receipts page.
4. Handle Unused Parts:
- This option is useful to handle parts that have been reserved for a
Request Task in a service location, but have not been consumed for the job.
These unused parts can be unreserved and moved to a desired location using
the Handle Unused Parts command from the Material/Reserved
Materials page.
Parts received through Direct Purchase
Orders or Shipment Orders can be moved with the following options:
- Move with Transport Task: This action removes reservations and creates
a Transport Task to move parts to a central (non-remote) warehouse.
It is possible to execute the Transport Task at the same time.
- Unreserve and Move to User Stock: This option removes reservations
and moves them to the user’s connected remote warehouse.
- Handle Unused Parts action is controlled by the Unreserve Materials
Workflow action.
5. Return Parts from Service Location:
- This option is useful when unused parts are left over at Service Location
from previous completed jobs. These parts can be returned to user stock
or a central warehouse via a Transport Task. This action is accessible in
the Material page of Request Tasks.
- For this action, parts must be unreserved and the current Request Task
must be at the same location as the temporary warehouse where parts are
stored.
-
The unreserved parts can be moved with the following options:
- Create Transport Task: This option allows moving
parts to a central warehouse, via a Transport Task. It is possible to
execute the Transport Task at the same time.
- Move to My Stock: This option moves parts to the
user’s connected remote warehouse.
- This action is controlled by the Allow Return of
Unreserved Parts from Service Location Workflow
action.
Restrictions on Material Flow in Service Locations
- Issued inventory parts cannot be unissued; if not required, they must
be returned.
- Parts sourced via Direct Purchase Orders or Shipment Orders can only
be issued from the service location.
