Simulate Material Availability
Explanation
Use this activity to simulate material availability.
This allows you to check whether or not the components will be available to manufacture
the required quantity of a specific part revision/alternate on a certain day.
To run the simulation, click New Simulation and enter
the simulation options:
- Start Date - The day the manufacturing should be
simulated to begin. Today's date will appear by default, but can be
modified.
- Quantity - The
quantity of parts that you want to simulate, i.e., the lot size of the planned
shop order.
- Project - The project under which you want to
simulate the material. The simulation will be done only to the material
connected to activity sequences under the given project.
- Show Shortages Only - Enable to show only possible
shortages instead of all material lines.
- Consider Alternate Component Factor - Enable this
option to reduce the required quantities for the
components with the quantities expected to be fulfilled by their
alternate components given the Alternate
Component Factor defined in the structure. Note that this option is only available when the structure type is
Remanufacturing.
The simulated available quantity is calculated as follows:
- Projected Qty On Hand Excluding Requisitions = Inventory Qty On
Hand - Reserved Qty On Hand + Open Supply (Excluding Requisitions) - Not
Reserved Demand (no MRP exploded demand)
- Projected Qty On Hand Including Requisitions = Inventory Qty On
Hand - Reserved Qty On Hand + Open Supply (Including Requisitions) - Not
Reserved Demand (no MRP exploded demand)
Prerequisites
- An inventory part must be defined and must have a buildable structure.
- Material lines that are customer owned, or not consumed will not be
considered.
System Effects
The system calculates the accessibility of the selected part under user-specified
simulated conditions.
