Assign Tool/Equipment to Operation

Explanation

This activity is used to assign a tool/equipment to be used in a shop order operation. To assign the tool/equipment it must be connected to the tool group that is to be used in the operation. The assignment of tool/equipment provides two main benefits. First, it informs the shop floor worker about what tool/equipment to be used in the operation. Second, it supports planning as allocations are made when assigning tool/equipment. These allocations can be viewed to analyze and compare planned usage to scheduled capacity on the Resource Analysis page. To perform this activity from:

Shop Order/Operations page or Shop Floor Workbench page, select the operation to assign, click Assign and select Tool/Equipment.
Shop Order/Operations/Tools tab or Shop Floor Workbench/Dispatch List/Tools tab, select the tool group(s) to assign and click Assign Tool/Equipment.

All assignments made can be viewed in Assigned Tool/Equipment on the Shop Floor Workbench and Operation Guide and the Shop Order Operation Tool Assignments page.

Prerequisites

A demand of an existing Manufacturing Tool Group, with connected tool/equipment, in a shop order operation.

System Effects

The tool/equipment is assigned to the operation, this can be viewed on the Shop Order Operation Tool Assignments page, and in the field Assigned Tool/Equipment on the Shop Floor Workbench page and Operation Guide.
Assignment Status on the Shop Order/Operations/Tools page is updated.
A record is created, and a sequence is generated on the Resource Activity Allocation and Resource Activity Allocation Load page.
