This activity defines customer warranties on a Service Object. Keeping track of warranties given to a customer for a sold product/object is important to ensure that a customer is given the service they are entitled to when the object fails.
The customer warranty can be defined as a collection of customer warranty types. The customer warranty type can be created on the Service Object either by copying an existing Customer Warranty Type Template or by manually adding warranty without using a template. When a Model is associated with a Service Object, the customer warranties defined on the Model will be copied (instantiated on) to the Service Object from the Model.
A Testpoint-Parameter combination can be added against a usage-based warranty condition to automatically update the warranty status to Closed based on the parameter measurements (usage-based means warranty condition with an Other UOM defined instead of a Duration UOM).
If the Service Object under warranty breaks/fails and needs repair, a Request can be initiated, and the warranty will be automatically applied on the Request Scope(s).
A customer warranty type is added to the Service Object as a part of an existing or new warranty, depending on the user's choice. If a new warranty is created, a warranty ID will be created. Removing all warranty types under a warranty will remove the warranty ID.
