Executors assigned to a skill requirement within a task can use this activity to record the work for a skill assignment.
Certifiers and inspectors can log actions taken to certify and inspect the
executor's work.
Work can be recorded to register the following:
Actions taken: At minimum, one corrective action must be recorded within an
assignment to complete the assignment.
Part removals
Part installations
Tools used
Measurements taken: Distance measurement values can also be recorded with the aid of
LiDAR-enabled devices, which allow you to measure the distance between
two points without any physical tools. A LiDAR-enabled device has a
LiDAR Scanner. To check if your iOS device includes a LiDAR scanner,
visit the Apple website and review the technical specifications for any
mention of a LiDAR scanner. After recording the distance between two
measurement points, you can capture a screenshot of the measurements
using the LiDAR camera. This is then uploaded as media for the
measurement on the task.
Execution, certification and inspection of steps
If requirements were added for parts that need to be removed and
installed, tools used, and measurements to be recorded, you must record these
details and proceed to sign for them.
Depending on the digital signature permissions, you can sign off with or
without a digital signature. You can use an assigned YubiKey to sign off on work
completed on the aircraft with an immutable digital signature. The digital
signature is stored against the task or fault and can be viewed at any time.
If you record work offline on a part requirement, tool, measurement, or step
within a task before the work recorded by technicians in online mode is
synchronized, you get a failed transaction once you go online. This failed
transaction must be resolved before you can proceed with recording your work.
Prerequisites
The skill requirement must be assigned to you.
If you are recording tool usage for tools that originate from IFS Cloud, you must be online to do so.
LiDAR-based distance measuring is only supported on LiDAR-capable iOS
devices.
Supported units of measure for LiDAR are cm, m, in and ft.
The ALLOW_LIDAR_MEDIA_ATTACHMENTS application parameter must be set to
TRUE to enable automatic media attachment.
If you are using a digital signature to sign off on work completed on
assignments or tasks, you should be registered with a valid public
certificate to use IFS Signature Service in Solution
Manager/Signing Service.
If you are not using a digital signature to sign off, Enable
E-Sign must be set to No on the Sign-Off User
Permissions page.
System Effects
The status of the skill assignment changes to Work Started
from Assigned.
Recording actions, part changes, tools, measurements, or step actions changes the
task status to In Work.
Actions added when recording work are added to the
task, and fault if a corresponding fault exists, and can be viewed from the
Task Details and Fault Details
pages.
Any part changes and tools used that were signed off by you reflect
that they were signed off by you and can be viewed fromthe
Task Details and Fault Details
page.
Measurements recorded and signed off can be viewed from the Task Details page.
The step sign-off notes are added to the Steps tab.
If a screenshot was captured along with a measurement value using
a LiDAR device, a media file of the LiDAR measurement screenshot is uploaded for the
measurement and can be viewed using the web application in the Media
pane at the bottom of Task Details page.
If the sign-off was handled using a digital signature, you can download
a .zip file containing digital signature information from the Attachments/Digital
Signatures tab at the bottom of the Task Details and Fault
Details pages.
Alternatively, if configured, you can view the digital signature files at
the external file storage location.
This .zip file contains .json, .xml, and .pdf
files. The metadata is stored in the .json and .xml files, while the .pdf
file includes the signed document containing the content reviewed by the
technician.
The file name of the .zip file follows the GUID.zip format,
where GUID stands for globally unique identifier.
The files within
the ZIP file are named in the following format:
- When work
is recorded offline: <Tail number>_OFFLINE_<User ID>_<Timestamp> - When work is recorded online: <Tail number>_<Record ID>_<User
ID>_<Timestamp>
After signing off on the removal of a mandatory part, if there is no
part installation for the same in the task or work package, a warning banner
appears, indicating a missing mandatory component.
After signing off on the removal of a mandatory part, if there is no
part installation for the same in the task for work package, you will see a
warning indicating that the task removed a mandatory component and there is
no matching installation in the work package. In the same warning, you will
be prompted to confirm the task completion.
If the RPT_ACTUAL_HRS_MANDT parameter is set to
TRUE on the Basic Data/Maintenance Execution Parameters
page, you will be prompted to confirm the actual hours.
The time reported by each skill assignee can be viewed from the
Time Reports tab on the Task Details
page.
A summary of the scheduled and actual hours for each skill and a
breakdown by each assignment role can be viewed from the Labor
Summary tab on the Task Details page.
Fields related to labor hours are updated as follows:
Actual Start: Indicates the time the technician
selected Start for the selected assignment or the time
they selected Save on the Record Action
assistant if they started recording work without starting the
assignment. If the technician completes the assignment by directly
selecting Finish, the time they selected Record
Action is recorded as the Actual Start.
Actual End: Indicates the time the technician
selected Finish > Record Action for the assignment. If
the technician completes the assignment by directly selecting
Finish, the time they selected Record Action
is recorded as the Actual End.
Actual Hours: Difference between the Actual
Start and the Actual End times. If the
technician finished the task without starting the assignment or
recording work, Actual Hours will be the same as
Scheduled Hours.
Procedure
Note: If you are recording work and signing off using a
digital signature, follow through with recording the digital signature or cancel
the procedure before the final step to avoid canceling at the final step.
Go to the assignments list on the Task Details page.
Select the assignment.
Choose whether to partially record work or complete the assignment:
To partially record work, select Record Work, then proceed to step 4.
To record an action and complete the assignment, select
Finish, then proceed to step 7.
As work is performed, record details of actions taken and requirements
specified on a work task such as part removal, part installation, tool use
and measurements by selecting the appropriate buttons in each section.
For a part removal or part installation, enter the quantity of parts as
specified or less than the quantity on the part requirement added to the
task or fault previously. You cannot
record more than the quantity specified on the part requirement.
If the part added as a part requirement has alternate parts, if
required, select the alternate part on recording the part removal and
part installation.
If you are recording the installation of a batch part, enter the
batch number in the Serial Number field.
To record a value for a length measurement on the mobile application using a LiDAR-enabled device:
On Task Details, select Add Measurement.
Select a length measurement type.
Tap on the Ruler icon in the Value
field. The color of the cursor and measurement line can be changed if
required.
Position the dot at the center of the screen until a guide appears.
Tap the Add button where you want to begin measuring.
Slowly pan along the guide, then tap the Add button at
the endpoint to see the measured length. You can clear a measurement using
the Clear button if required and retake the measurement.
To take a photo of your measurement, tap the Camera
icon.
Select OK. The measurement value added using LiDAR appears in the
Value field.
Execute, certify or inspect steps.
Select Record Action, provide the
Action Taken and, and select Save.
If the assignment was not started using the Start button, the time you select
Save is recorded as the assignment's start time.
If you are finishing the assignment, if configured, you will
be prompted to save actual hours.
Do one of the following to capture work recording or assignment completion.
If you are signing off with a digital signature: Select
Sign and proceed with the digital signing process.
If you are not signing off with a digital signature: Select Finish.
