Load Work Package
Explanation
You can upload a semicolon separated value (.csv) file with work package,
task and fault details to create or update work packages, tasks and faults
for Line Maintenance Execution. The work package file must be loaded in its
entirety at all times. The work package loader does not expect partial work
packages or loading only changes.
On uploading, the file is
processed and takes on a processing status as follows:

processing. The status is set to this at the beginning of the file
upload via browser step. |

The file is being processed. This status is
set to at the beginning of the file parsing step. |
Failed |
The file could not be successfully processed
due to a data or business rule validation. The status is set to this
at the end of the business rules validation step, if there are data
or business rule validations. |
Error |
The file could not be successfully processed
due to an unexpected processing error. The status is set to this at
any step throughout the file processing when an unexpected error is
encountered. |
Completed |
The file has been successfully processed. The
status is set to this at the end of the business rules and
validations steps, if there are no data or business rule
validations. |
Once uploaded, you can view a summary of the execution on the
header of the page, as well as details for each line type, in the tabs for
the page.
To remove a task, fault or work types from a work package, or remove
parts, tools, skills, and actions from faults and additionally measurements
and steps from tasks, you must delete the row for the
line type from the work package loader file and upload the work package loader
file.
Prerequisites
- To create or update work packages and their contents:
- The data file must be in .csv
format, with semicolon (";") used as a delimiter. It
must contain rows to create or update the work package and its contents
with values for columns ordered as required by the Line Maintenance Work Package Loader. See

- Basic data corresponding to the data for the work package and its
contents must be set up in Line Maintenance Execution to avoid the work package
upload or publish failing due to invalid data.
- The file size must not exceed 800 KB.
System Effects
- If a file free of errors was uploaded:
- On the Line Maintenance Work Package Loader
page, the execution status of the file upload in the Execution
Summary section is set to Completed.
- Work packages and their contents are created or updated for the
work package rows in the file .
- If parts, tools, actions, and skills are defined on faults, they
are copied to the corresponding task as well.
- If an active work package was canceled, the tasks and
faults assigned to the work package are removed.
- If the row for a task or fault was removed from the work
package, the task and fault is removed from the work package and any
parts, tools, skills, actions, measurements and steps are removed
from the task or fault. The
corrective task that was previously created for the fault is removed as well.
- If a file with errors was uploaded:
- If your system administrator set up to notify you when the work
package loading fails, the notification panel will contain a
notification. When you click on the notification for the error, you
are directed to the Line Maintenance Work Package Loader page which indicates the cause of failure of
the work package.
- On the Line Maintenance Work Package Loader
page:
- The execution status of the file upload in the Execution
Summary section is set to Failed.
- Work packages and their contents are not created or updated.
Details of the failed rows can be viewed can be viewed on the
page by expanding the row with
the Failed execution status. Note that to view all
the columns for a row you must set the view to Table View for the
tab.
- Transactions associated with the file upload can be viewed on the
External File Transactions page by clicking
External File Transfer Logs.
Procedure
- On the Line Maintenance Work Package Loader
page, click Load Work Package.
- Drag and drop or browse for the work package file and click Upload.
- Depending on the processing status of the file, you must take
actions as follows:
- Completed - This state is indicative of successful file upload.
You can go on to view the created or updated work packages, tasks
and faults.
- Failed - This state is indicative of a failed file upload due to
errors in the data format, completeness or validity of data. You must review
and resolve errors, and upload the corrected
work package file again.
- Error - This state is indicative of an unexpected error. You
must re-upload the work package file again.
