Return Material from Mobile Work
Explanation
Use this activity to register material planned for return and to return
planned or unplanned material to inventory.
- It is possible to return parts to
the main (central) warehouse using a transport task or to own stock (i.e. user's
default remote warehouse).
- If parts are returned to the main warehouse using a transport
task, it is possible to execute the transport task at the same time.
- IIf parts are returned to own van stock, these parts can be moved
over to the main warehouse directly at a later stage using the
Move to Main Warehouse action in My Stock.
Planned material for return are displayed under Planned Returns.
Return lines that have been completely returned are excluded from this list.
Use the Return action on planned return line to return parts
to inventory. Once planned material is returned to inventory, it is listed
under Returned Parts.
The Quick Returns action allows returning parts without
prior planning. The user device must be online to perform unplanned returns.
Parts returned using Quick Returns will not be visible in
Returned Parts.
Part Valuation considerations
For parts to be returned to inventory, the correct cost structure must be
defined. Some valuation methods require users to enter the cost or cost
structure manually when the part is placed into inventory. Mobile users
cannot reasonably be expected to know the cost of a part, so parts using
such valuation methods cannot be returned in the Mobile Client.
Parts with the following Inventory Valuation Methods cannot be returned:
- FIFO (First In First Out)
- LIFO (Last In First Out)
- Weighted Average - with exception of parts with Inventory Part Cost
Level set to Cost per Condition
While it is possible to register a Planned Return for
these parts, it is impossible to actually return them to inventory, either
through Planned Return or Quick Return.
The system will return an error.
Parts with Inventory Valuation Method set to:
- Standard Cost
- Weighted Average with Inventory Part Cost Level set to Cost per
Condition
can be successfully returned in Mobile Client provided the Cost structure
or Estimated Condition Cost (for Cost per Condition parts) are defined.
If this information is
missing;
- For Planned Returns, the system will create a
Failed Transaction when the Return
transaction is received by the server.
- For Quick Returns, the system will immediately
generate an error.
Prerequisites
- Part cost structure must be defined for the parts to be returned to
inventory
- User device must be online to perform Quick Returns
- The Person Resource must have no Workflow Configuration applied, or Workflow Configuration
applied must have action Allow Handover of Parts from My Stock
enabled to move parts returned to own stock to main (central ) warehouse.
System Effects
- If parts are returned to own stock, My stock
will be updated with the returned parts.
- If parts are returned to main (central ) warehouse, a Transport Task
is created. If executed at the same time, returned parts will be moved
to the main (central ) warehouse
- Inventory transactions are updated in the Work Task\Costs
tab in IFS Cloud.
