This activity is used to import an existing (*.rep) layout that resides in the local machine to the environment.
When adding a layout, Create New Report Layout assistant will be displayed enabling you to create a new layout. The Import Layout option is provided to upload an existing report layout(*.rep) as the new layout. Once the mandatory requirements of the interim page are filled, a new layout will be created for the selected report based on the uploaded layout. Upon successful layout creation, you will be notified with an alert message. You will be redirected to the Detail page (Report Layouts) and under the Report Layout Versions section report status will be automatically set to Unpublish. You can access this layout for designing requirements, only by accessing the Newly created version. The Report Studio Designer window will populate the uploaded layout enabling you to edit it.
Outputs:
Once the report layout is created successfully, the Report Definition will be updated with the created layout. For the Unpublished reports In Use field in the Layout Definitions section is set to No initially. When you publish the report layout, the In Use field will be updated as Yes automatically. Unless the In Use field is set to Yes, the published layout cannot be used as a default layout for printing the report.
