Design Mode
Design Mode in IFS Business Reporter is intended for report designers responsible for creating and customizing reports. In this mode, users have full control over the structure, data sources, and layout of the report, focusing on tailoring the content to meet organizational/end-user needs. To access the design mode and its features, report designers need to be granted the necessary permission sets.
Report designers can design reports by selecting and placing measures and dimension items from one or multiple Information Sources directly into Excel cells. Standard Excel formatting and calculations can be applied to these cells, making report creation intuitive and flexible.
Key Design Features:
- Repeaters for Efficient Report Expansion
- Repeaters automate the expansion of rows, columns, or sheets based on specified intervals during report execution. For instance, rows can expand for a range of accounts or customers, columns for periods or organization units, and sheets for each cost center or project.
- Repeaters can also have sub-repeaters, allowing layered structures with user-defined calculation rows or columns (e.g., for calculating differences or margins).
- Structure Repeaters for Hierarchical Reporting
- Structure repeaters expand output based on predefined structures, useful for fixed-format reports or dynamic reports where users can expand or collapse levels interactively.
- Flexible Filtering and Interactive Slicers
- Filters can be applied at multiple levels to display targeted information across different dimensions. Interactive slicers can filter data on workbooks, sheets, or dynamic structure levels, enabling users to adjust data views in real-time.
- Cross-Information Source Data Mixing
- Data from multiple Information Sources can be combined in a single report, as long as they share common dimensions, allowing for versatile data structuring and comprehensive reporting.
- Drill Down and Zoom In for Detailed Analysis
- The Zoom In function provides a detailed breakdown of a specific data item, while Drill Down expands this further, by displaying all the interconnected data sources to a data item. The URL feature allows direct access to IFS Cloud from IFS Business Reporter for seamless navigation.
- Drill Down, Zoom In, and URL features can be utilized in Report Mode if those are enabled during report design.
- Writeback for Updating IFS Cloud with Report Data
- The Writeback feature enables data to be written back to IFS Cloud or exported to a text file.
- Reports with Writeback must be pre-enabled in the report design, and the necessary settings and options should be configured in Designer Mode.
With these powerful design capabilities, along with Microsoft Excel’s formatting and calculation functions, IFS Business Reporter enables users to create diverse, tailored reports that meet a wide range of analytical and reporting needs.
Once reports are designed, they can be published to IFS Cloud, making them accessible to authorized users with the appropriate permissions.
