Reserve or Unreserve Material

Explanation

Reserve Material

This activity allows you to reserve inventory parts required for a WorkTask. To ensure material availability, you can allocate the necessary parts physically. When a material is reserved or allocated, it prevents others from issuing the same material. The status of a Work Task or Repair RMA determines whether materials can be reserved. Material reservation is possible when the Unit status is set to In Repair or higher. Additionally, the required quantity must be available in inventory to proceed with the reservation.

You can reserve materials manually or automatically:

For non-inventory registered materials, requisitions must be processed through repair tasks that generate purchase orders.

Note: If a material line is not selected in the table, it will not be considered for manual or automatic reservation. Any unselected material lines will not reflect changes occurring in parallel.

Additionally, both Manual Reservation and Reserve Materials assistants can facilitate material transport tasks:

If the executing user has a default warehouse but reserves material from a different warehouse, a transport task will be created to move the material to the default location.

Materials can also be transferred to another location by entering a specific Location No.

Unreserve Material

This activity allows you to unreserve material previously reserved for a Work Task.
