Reserve or Unreserve Material
Explanation
Reserve Material
This activity allows you to reserve inventory parts required for a
WorkTask. To ensure material availability, you can allocate the necessary
parts physically. When a material is reserved or allocated, it prevents
others from issuing the same material. The status of a Work Task or Repair
RMA determines whether materials can be reserved. Material reservation is
possible when the Unit status is set to In Repair or
higher. Additionally, the required quantity must be available in inventory
to proceed with the reservation.
You can reserve materials manually or automatically:
- Manual Reservation:
- Select the material line and click Reserve Manually.
- Enter the quantity you need and choose the inventory location.
- You can specify which serial number to reserve if the part is
serially tracked.
- The system displays the available inventory quantities for
reference.
- Automatic Reservation:
- Select one or more material requisition lines and click
Reserve.
- The system updates the selected records accordingly.
- Automatic reservation is only available for non-serially tracked
materials.
For non-inventory registered materials, requisitions must be processed
through repair tasks that generate purchase orders.
Note: If a material line is not selected in the table,
it will not be considered for manual or automatic reservation. Any
unselected material lines will not reflect changes occurring in parallel.
Additionally, both Manual Reservation and
Reserve Materials assistants can facilitate
material transport tasks:
If the executing user has a default warehouse but reserves material from
a different warehouse, a transport task will be created to move the material
to the default location.
Materials can also be transferred to another location by entering a
specific Location No.
Unreserve Material
This activity allows you to unreserve material previously reserved for a
Work Task.
- To unreserve a specific quantity of a reserved material, select the
material line and click Reserve/Unreserve. In the
Unreserve Part dialog, enter the quantity to
be unreserved.
- Select the required lines to unreserve multiple selected material
lines and click Unreserve All.
- Use the Unreserve All Material Lines command to
unreserve all reserved material lines within a Material Order.
Prerequisites
- The inventory part must be registered, and the required quantity
must be available in IFS/Inventory.
- The status of the work order must be set to In Repair or
higher, and the material requisition order status should be changed
manually from New to In Repair.
- Material lines on the material order number have to be reserved to
unreserve materials.
System Effects
- As a result of reserving materials, an inventory part is reserved
and available for a request at the required time. The number of parts
reserved will be displayed in theQuantity Reservedfield.
- As a result of the activity of un-reserving materials, lines that
are reserved will be unreserved.
