Define Cost Parameters
Explanation
Use this function to update system generated cost parameters which are used
in different cost calculations. Please note that the cost parameters are defined
per site.
The following provides detailed information on specific parameters that impact
the performance of cost calculation and copy cost set jobs.
- When executing a cost calculation or copy cost set job for all parts
on the site, the system checks the number of records in the PartCostBucket
table for all parts on the given site per cost set. If that number exceeds
PCB_INDEX_REBUILD_LIMIT parameter value, then the indexes
are dropped and recreated for better performance. In a 7/24 environment,
the default value of PCB_INDEX_REBUILD_LIMIT, set as 200
000 can be increased, to prevent a decline in query performance during the
execution of costing jobs.
- If the cost source functionality is not used, then it is recommended
to set CAPTURE_COST_SOURCES parameter to No.
Then the performance of Copy Costs to Cost Set One
job will improve.
- For sites with few or no configurable parts, setting the INCLUDE_CONFIGURABLE
parameter to Yes, will increase the performance of
Copy Costs to Cost Set One job because the system
takes a more efficient route in its logic when the setting is set to
Yes.
- To minimize the calculation time in Kaizen Costing, set the
ROI_PERIOD_LIMIT parameter as low as possible; however, it must
be higher than the value for ROI_PERIOD.
