Add Tool Requirement

Explanation

As you work on a task or fault, you might need to request tools that were not specified as requirements in the task or fault. Any measurements already displayed on the Task Skills or Fault Skills pages that you can navigate to from Task Details or Fault Details, are those that were added to the task or fault beforehand.

To request tools for a task or fault that is in work, or soon to be in work, you add one or more tool requirements to the task or fault while either offline or online. To do so, click Tools from the Task Details or Fault Details page, and then clicking Add Tool.

You can then record tool use when you partially complete or complete work and then sign off on the tool use.

You can also remove a tool requirement on a task or fault provided that the tool use has not been signed off. The removed requirement is no longer displayed in Task Tools Used or Fault Tools Used accessed by clicking Tools on the Task Details or Fault Details page.

Prerequisites

• A task must exist in the Active or In Work status.
• A fault must exist in the Open or Deferred status.
• Tasks and faults must have been migrated and synced from your primary M&E system.
• Basic data for tools and parts, such as tool specification and part number, must have been migrated and synced from your primary M&E system. 

System Effects

• The tool requirement is added to the task and displayed in Task Tools Used page and additionally the Fault Tools Used page if the task has a corresponding fault or is only a fault.
• Tool use for the task or fault can be recorded and signed off.
